What Is Arestin®?

Arestin® (minocycline hydrochloride) is a prescription antibiotic designed for treating periodontal infections. Unlike oral antibiotics, it’s placed directly into the infected gum pockets, where harmful bacteria thrive.
By targeting the source of infection, Arestin® helps reduce both bacteria and inflammation, improving gum health more effectively than standard deep cleanings alone.
How Is Arestin® Applied?
After a deep cleaning, which removes plaque and bacteria below the gum line, Arestin® is gently applied. The process is quick, precise, and typically painless, ensuring the medication reaches the areas that brushing and flossing cannot.
Arestin® begins working immediately at the source of infection. The minocycline microspheres continue fighting bacteria and reducing inflammation for up to 30 days, with studies showing significantly improved results compared to scaling and root planing alone for as long as 90 days.

How Often Should Arestin® Be Used?
